Foreign Minister Julie Bishop accuses the media at the
Australian.
Julie Isabel Bishop was born on 17 July 1956. She is an
Australian politician, serving as the Minister for Foreign Affairs since 2013,
and the Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party since 2007.
Recently, she has lashed out at the Australian media about
suggestions that she had damaged the ability of the government to work with a
New Zealand government Ardern Labor. Moreover, she used the word
"Rubbish" when replying to reporters concerned about the incident.
She said she would find it very difficult to trust Labour
MPs in the event the party formed government. A Fairfax Media inquiry earlier
this year led to the disclosure that Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce was a
dual citizen of Australia and New Zealand likely to disqualify him from serving
in the Australian Parliament.
People quickly realized that the incident was tense between
the two countries when it was revealed an Australian Labor figure made contact
with NZ Labour MP Chris Hipkins about the issue, before questions were raised
on the matter in New Zealand's parliament.
More info about Julie Bishop:
Bishop previously served in the Howard Government as the
Minister for Ageing from 2003 to 2006, and the Minister for Education, Science
and Training from 2006 to 2007, until the defeat of the Liberal/National Coalition
at the election held on 24 November 2007.
Bishop grew up in the Adelaide Hills and was educated at the
St Peter's Collegiate Girls' School, later attending the University of
Adelaide. Prior to entering politics, she was a managing partner of major Australian
law firm Clayton Utz.
